About the work

I have always loved walking in the varied landscapes of Britain and abroad – moving through, looking at, ‘soaking up’ these landscapes – the colours and patterns, the light and the shadows. The memory of the experience becomes the subject of my paintings, sketches and prints. I try to evoke the feeling, the essence, of the special place.

Monotypes

I make sketches in situ and then paint or draw, using acrylics or mixed media, creating the work in the studio. My sketchbooks also serve as inspiration for limited edition collagraph/carborundum prints and monotypes. In addition, I often make one-off print-based pieces combining collagraph and mixed media.

Above are images of my studio where I paint and also make collagraph prints and monotypes, using my etching press. I often turn the studio into a gallery to show my work.

Here it’s seen in both modes – sketches pinned up, plates being created, inked and printed – and some images of the studio as a gallery.
